The Johnson County War Ride
June 5th-8th 2024
LOCATION: T.A. Ranch Buffalo, Wyoming; Eastern foothills of the Big Horn Mountains
WHY: The T.A. Ranch is one of the main locations of the Johnson County War(1888-1893). We will ride where they rode, push cattle where they "rustled"(approximately 250 head), feel the bullet holes in the original barns, and enjoy the beauty of the Big Horn Mountains.
The T.A Ranch has a top notch restaurant on site, as well as refurbished rooms situated inside the ranch!
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
- 3 restaurant-made meals per day
- Enjoy T.A. Ranch raised & branded steaks
- Access to full bar (alcohol not included in rate)
- Enjoy refurbished rooms inside the original ranch structures(milk barn, bunk house, etc.)
- Help cut your horse out of the remuda(horse herd) for the week
- Try to keep up, or sit back and enjoy the show, as we drive the remuda out to pasture.
- Access to professional photographer
- Feel the energy as we push the cattle herd, 250 strong, to fresh grass.
- In depth historical experiences
- Trail riding through the territory (8,000+ acres)
- Nightly campfires
- Horseback demonstrations
- Grab a drink, then jump on the wagon, for an evening under the sprawling stars of the plains. The rhythmic plodding of the draft horses will be a memory never forgotten.

Summer Horse Pasture for 2024
Arizona summers are too hot for our horses! That is why we offer an alternative. We haul horses up to Teton Valley; one of the most beautiful places in the country, to turn our beloved horses out on sprawling grass pasture. They learn to socialize, graze on belly high grass, drink from a flowing creek, get healthy and stay cool.
Trailers leave in early June and return early September.

From taking naps in the saddle as a toddler, to winning trophies and blue ribbons; horses have made it all possible.
At the Spanish H, we train all kinds of horses. Our Western upbringing has set a great foundation for us to evolve. We have trained Shire draft horses to pull wagons through parades, started Friesian stallions, won blue ribbons in the Gypsy Vanner circuit, finished off Quarter Horses for the sale, corrected problem trail horses, corrected run-away Percherons, trained Mustang colts and much more! It has been a ride over the years, and we love it! Please reach out if you feel we would be a good fit to help you and your horse.
